Our Philosophy

Thomas Uihlein

Thomas Uihlein is a leading expert in the aviation sector. His 24-year career has been characterised by strategic innovation and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence under duress. His expertise in crisis management and business continuity has been acquired in leadership positions, notably as Managing Director of the International Crisis Academy, where he has been instrumental in leading organisations through transformative change and strengthening their resilience.

His 15 years of service with the German Armed Forces provided the foundation for developing and leading crisis response protocols, developing training initiatives for military and civilian contingents, and advising on global projects to improve organisational crisis preparedness.

As a certified EFQM auditor, Thomas Uihlein conducted various international projects, which are a testament to his ability to navigate and adapt to different cultural contexts. His language skills not only improve communication but also ensure the effective cross-cultural dissemination of crisis management strategies and practices.

Dr. Dirk Klann

Dr. Klann is an out-spoken versed expert in aviation, global maritime shipping and IT.

He started his 38-year career as an air traffic controller (tower) with the German Airforce, has been engaged in developing software, solving Y2K-problems, and teaching in the field of IT & aviation.

At various airports Dr. Klann managed functions like punctuality, seasonal flight planning, airport resources, aviation quality, and many domains of IT, incl. (aviation) business continuity and IT security architecture.

Having been instrumental in airport crisis coordination as well as in participating in a German national exercise to protect critical infrastructure against cyber attacks (LÜKEX 2011), paired with his years spent in the wargaming (CAX) domain at the German Armed Forces (Command and General Staff College) make him an excellent practitioner when it comes to testing a plan. 

His degrees in Business & IT, in Air Transport Management as well as his PhD in IT & Airports support putting best practices into a wider and systematic context.

Dr. Klann's is trained in pedagogy and his experience in leading people shaped the way he interacts with persons as a sought-after sparring partner and coach.

He lived and worked in different countries and cultures, which makes him an excellent educator in a multi-cultural environment.

Monica Maccaferri

Monica Maccaferri has dedicated three decades to her career at the airport, where she has cultivated extensive expertise in the air transport sector. Her specialization lies in assisting victims of air accidents and providing comprehensive family assistance. Over the years, Monica has become a pivotal figure in this field, collaborating with numerous international victim assistance organizations. Her commitment extends to active participation in several International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) working groups, where she contributes her insights and experience on the subject.

In addition to her collaborative efforts, Monica is also a seasoned trainer in emergency drills, with a particular focus on mass disaster management. Her training sessions are known for their thoroughness and effectiveness, preparing airport staff and emergency responders to handle large-scale emergencies with precision and care. Monica’s dedication to her work and her continuous efforts to improve safety protocols have made her an invaluable asset to the aviation community.

Monica Shetty

Monica Shetty is an IATA-qualified Airline Emergency Response Planner with over 30 years of aviation experience and 9 years focused on safety, she has a proven track record in developing and implementing comprehensive emergency response plans. Her expertise extends to Airline Family Assistance, where she has firsthand experience supporting families affected by aviation emergencies.

 

She actively participated in crisis management centers during actual airline emergencies, providing essential support to both affected individuals and airline staff. Additionally, She is responsible for training and ensuring the preparedness of airline personnel, contributing to a culture of safety and resilience. Her commitment to aviation safety is further demonstrated by her involvement as an observer and assessor during airport emergency drills and mock exercises.

Dr. Pepina Miteva

Dr. Pepina Miteva is a renowned Human Resources expert in the aviation industry, with over two decades of experience in People Management, Development, and Training. She excels in shaping future-oriented HR strategies and building high-performing organizations.

As a strategic thinker and seasoned leader, Dr. Miteva has contributed to many international airport projects, developing competency-based HR models, implementing effective training programs, and fostering positive corporate cultures. Her experience as an Airport HR Manager in Bulgaria and her work on over 15 international projects highlight her adaptability and global expertise.

Dr. Miteva is a sought-after speaker and active contributor to the global aviation HR community. She is passionate about knowledge exchange and promoting best practices. Her PhD in Human Resources and recognition as a World Certified Master combine deep theoretical knowledge with practical expertise.

Her strong communication, leadership, and training skills enable her to build effective relationships and drive sustainable change, particularly in crisis management.
