The implementation of robust cyber resilience measures in aviation, in accordance with international ICAO requirements and ISO standards, is paramount for safeguarding critical systems and operations. Adhering to ICAO requirements and ISO standards supports that aviation entities establish comprehensive frameworks to mitigate cyber risks, protect sensitive data, and uphold the integrity of aviation operations. By aligning with ICAO requirements and ISO standards, the aviation industry can enhance its resilience against cyber threats, bolstering safety and security of air transportation. Furthermore, compliance with these standards fosters interoperability and trust among aviation stakeholders on a global scale, promoting consistent and effective cyber security practices across borders. This does not only protect the aviation ecosystem but also instills confidence in passengers, regulators, and industry partners. Ultimately, the implementation of cyber resilience measures based on international standards is crucial for maintaining the reliability and trustworthiness of aviation systems and operations in an increasingly digital landscape.
What will the participant learn?
Participants will learn to conduct a cyber security self-assessment, evaluating their airport's vulnerability to cyber attacks. They will understand how to derive the baseline for any further steps: the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) with its measures of Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD), Recovery Time Objective (RTO), and Recovery Point Objective (RPO). The training will help them determine the alignment between business needs and IT service provisioning, ensuring a balanced approach. They will also gain insights into developing a risk-based action plan to address cyber threats and which roles are key to establishing cyber crisis management within an airport environment. Additionally, participants will understand how to implement the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.
