Course can be arranged on any location and at any time

In the event of an aircraft accident, the airport serves as the initial point where families seek information. If the accident occurs within airport boundaries, providing assistance to passengers who are victims of the crash becomes essential. The airport must effectively manage its spaces to provide proper assistance to families and victims, aiming to alleviate additional burdens of pain and grief. Conducting interviews in a dignified and respectful manner, considering cultural and religious aspects, is crucial for implementing the principles of international laws indicated on doc 9998 policy on family assistance. This approach ensures that the assistance provided aligns with legal standards and respects the diverse cultural backgrounds of those affected by the accident.

What will participants learn?

The course aims to impart knowledge of the ICAO 9998 Assistance to Aircraft Accident Victims and their Families policy and its guidance material DOC 9973. It focuses on ensuring the proper and respectful operation of families' victims reception centers (FRC) and addressing the secondary victimization of staff while preserving emotional integrity. The objectives of the training are to adequately prepare personnel for managing FRC and assisting passengers and victims. The learning content includes understanding the international legal framework of family assistance, conducting interviews with families and victims, distinguishing "forbidden vs useful" words, considering cultural aspects, and engaging in role-play exercises to facilitate learning and practical application of the principles taught.
